A short story of life
I just would like to remember few pages from his biography.
Looking around his professional journey it’s clear, that he did not choose the easiest way on each step.
On the contrary, he chooses heroic way.
He started his career as automation specialist on nuclear submarine. It was a time of Cold War.
I even can’t imagine what responsibility it was, what pressure and risk… When I’m starting to think, that I’m tired, emotionally dried, I just remember talks with him about what he went through. The scariest episode was emergency evacuation from torpedo tube… He carried this cold, dark, tight fear throughout his life.
Just small fact… First time, when I’ve seen my father I was almost two years old… And long time after his dismissal, I pointed on his portrait, when somebody asks me where is my daddy.
For many, a submarine adventure would be enough for the rest of their lives, but not for him. He went on to save the country. But now on Chenrobyl NPP.
He started work in late 1987 – early 1988. He was an Electronic engineer on shift. During this period of work, he obtained Sign of the participant in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.
In the mid of nineties, became calm period… And this was not acceptable for my father.
He left shift and join Training Centre of ChNPP. Soon he went training to @Brookhaven National Laboratory. This trip to USA was the main event for him in the nineties. Great experience!
In 1998 he joins Shelter Implementation Plan – Project Management Unit – it was a group of international experts recreated to support Ukraine in Plan of implementation of actions for transformation of “Shelter” object into ecologically safe system. There were experts from @Battelle, @Bechtel, @EDF, @CHNPP with support of @EBRD
He started to work for New Safe Confinement even before concept project was chosen!
Years passed, calm office life, as you already understand, was not for him. And in 2007 he joins @NOVARKA. Joint venture of @VINCI Construction Grands Projets and @Bouygues Travaux Publics. He was one of the first in this company. And one of the first on Construction Site.
He took part in every stage of New Safe Confinement project: from preparation work to commissioning… How many kilometers of cables he installed… How many PC and other equipment were configured, repaired and maintained. And apotheosis was arch skidding… Incredible. Two weeks of 12-14 daily work hours without day off. And he managed good connection for site, great support of engineers, @Mammoet, etc. Also I’m pretty sure, that each of you have seen those beautiful time lapses… He was a part of our, team who made this.
After the end of NSC project his career actually also ends. Unfortunately, all heroic places are over.
Just like his life.
Rest in peace, dad! We love you.
